Where are your pickup locations?
We have regularly scheduled pickups in Derry/Salem & Bedford/Nashua. Please click here for exact directions from your starting point.
We can arrange additional bus pick ups if you have 15 or more in your group and the pick up location is directly en route to the tour destination. If you have 40+ in your group, we can arrange to have a bus pick you up at location of your choice. (If the location is much further than our regular pickups, there may be an additional charge.)
Do I need a passport?
These are the current rules regarding the need to have a Passport for travel within the Western Hemisphere:
AIR (January 23, 2007) – Passport required for all air travel within the Western Hemisphere and abroad. U.S. Citizens departing and returning to the United States by air after January 23, 2007, will be required to have a valid U.S. Passport. The Passport office is already busy and this will likely contribute to a backlog that could result in lengthy issuance delays as these rules take effect.
SEA and LAND (As soon as January 1, 2008) – Passport or other accepted documents* required for land border crossings and sea travel within the Western Hemisphere. Although the requirement to possess a valid Passport or PASScard for sea travel and land border crossings could be extended to as late as June 1, 2009, the government can accelerate this date based on meeting certain standards and is recommending that travelers be prepared for the passport requirement as early as January 1, 2008.
The Bottom Line: Don’t delay – if travel outside the U.S. is a possibility, get a Passport today!
Do you have to be a certain age to be part of Shirley’s Friends?
Shirley’s Friends does not have an age requirement. Although we focus on the 50+ population, anyone is welcome to travel with us or attend any of our events. We often have seniors who invite their children, grandchildren, etc. to join them on “family-type” tours. We believe that traveling with Shirley’s Friends is wonderful for everyone!
I don’t want to pay a single rate for an overnight tour. Do you know of someone that I can room with?
There are often singles that want to go on an overnight tour or cruise – but do not want to pay the higher “single-rate”. If we know you are interested in finding a roommate and we know someone else who is also interested and may be compatible – we’ll give you each others phone numbers/emails (with your authorization, of course). You can then have a phone conversation or meet in person to decide if you would like to room together. We have done this many times with wonderful results and lots of new friendships have been created this way!
What is your cancellation policy?
Day Trips: Payment for all tours is due in advance. Payment for day trips is due 30 days prior to date of trip. Day trips that have tickets purchased in advance (plays, etc.) must be paid at time of reservation - as we typically receive better seats the earlier we receive payment. We do start a wait list on the trips that are booked. Therefore, if you have to cancel a trip and can't find anyone to take your place, this enables us to try and find a replacement for you. If we can, your payment will be refunded. (If you paid with a credit card, there may be a cancellation fee.) Also - when space is available, we will take reservations (on all day trips) up to date of trip. Overnight Tours: All overnight trips require a deposit and final payment due 45-60 days prior to trip (depending on trip). Travel Insurance is recommended for all multi-night trips.
Can I pay with a credit card?
Shirley’s Friends can only accept credit cards for payments of $200 and greater. In addition, if you pay with a credit card and are entitled to a refund (due to an approved cancellation) – you will have the funds credited back to your credit card if the cancellation is within 45 days of payment. If the refund is requested after 45 days, you will receive a check minus a 5% cancellation fee.
Will there be a Tour Escort on my trip?
Shirley’s Friends Group Tours are fully escorted. Our goal is to always provide wonderful travel experiences with individualized attention.
